Verifone Mobile Money brings NFC mobile payments to Indonesia

Merchants in Indonesia including 7 Eleven, McDonald's, and Wendy's will be equipped to accept NFC mobile payments from the TCash mobile wallet.

Indonesia-based mobile network operator Telkomsel has partnered with Verifone Mobile Money and Finnet Indonesia to introduce NFC-enabled mobile payments to subscribers in southeast Asia.

Merchants in Indonesia including 7 Eleven, McDonald's, and Wendy's will be equipped to accept NFC mobile payments from the TCash mobile wallet, according to a press release.

"This launch has enabled contactless mobile payments in Indonesia to move into the mainstream with more and more consumers seeing the value of using their mobile device to purchase everyday items," Chris Jones, Verifone Mobile Money CEO, said in a statement. "We have concentrated on delivering a world first solution to Telkomsel with integrated loyalty enabling Telkomsel and its partner merchants to offer a wide range of 'tap and pay' offerings."

Telkomsel has 140 million subscribers, according to the announcement.
