Verifone adds mPOS, unattended capabilities to UK payment service

Verifone has announced that it has extended its omnichannel payment as a aervice product in the U.K. to support mobile point of sale and unattended devices. The company will display the product at the Retail Business Technology Expo 2017 next week in London, according to a press release.

Verifone said it is combining the payment as a service product with its e355 and UX series of devices to enable U.K. clients to deliver highly targeted, personalized customer experiences beyond the e-commerce site and in-store till.

"Today's consumers want to shop and pay however and whenever they want," said Kevin Freeguard, vice president and managing director of Verifone U.K. and Ireland. "By extending the reach of our solution's capabilities, retailers can now deliver memorable omnichannel experiences that strengthen their brand to customers not only at the checkout counter, but throughout the store — even unattended points of sale."

Verifone highlighted two key features of the payment as a service product:

  • the Verifone e355 mobile point-of-sale device enables high-touch selling, real-time access to customer profiles, ready access to inventory systems, and the ability to make a sale from anywhere; and
  • with Verifone’s UX series of devices, retailers can also extend the in-store experience to kiosks, vending machines, self-checkout stations and other unattended environments.
