UL first to provide mPOS testing for Visa Ready Partner Program

UL has announced that its laboratories worldwide will be testing mobile point-of-sale acceptance devices for certification by the Visa Ready Partner Program. This new program complements the lab's existing PCI and EMV compliance testing services for mPOS solutions.

Visa launched the Visa Ready Partner Program to make it easier for new, non-traditional players such as mobile device manufacturers, wallet providers and network operators to navigate a complex payments ecosystem. The program provides a path for the certification of devices, software and solutions used to initiate or accept Visa payments via mobile systems.

"UL is delighted to take part in the Visa Ready Partner Program and pleased to have been chosen as their first key-partner for testing and certification of mobile point-of-sale acceptance devices," said Jean-Luc Khaou, UL regional head of transaction security.

"The mCommerce opportunities are growing and products such as mPOS need to be certified in order to be accepted worldwide. We see great benefits for innovators to go through this program, as the program makes it easier to understand the complexities of the payments ecosystem."

UL transaction security services were formed following the company's acquisition of RFI Smart in 2010 and Collis and Witham Laboratories in 2012. Now rebranded to UL, the companies offer advisory, training, testing and certification services, as well as security evaluation services and test tools to payment, mobile, e-ticketing and ID management domains worldwide.
