Uber Technologies Inc. said in a blog post this week that its Uber Money unit has expanded engineering work into Hyderabad, India, where more than 100 engineers and other specialists in machine learning are working on new payment technologies. 

The team is working to develop financial compliance tools, smart routing technologies for payment gateways and using its own artificial intelligence models for measuring financial risk. 

The Hyderabad-based team will play a critical role in some of the company’s financial initiatives, including real-time earnings and debit cards for drivers, Uber mobile wallets and refreshed credit card for Uber customers and other features. 

Uber officials said they were hiring additional members of this team and have additional workers in other major cities, including San Francisco and Palo Alto, California, New York and Amsterdam.
