Uber expands grocery delivery through Cornershop

Uber, fresh off its $2.6 billion acquisition of Postmates, is expanding its delivery business in the essentials space, by launching grocery delivery in Canada and Latin America through its partnership with Cornershop, making the services available through the Uber and Uber Eats apps.

Uber is also adding U.S. markets to is grocery delivery business later this month with the addition of Miami and Dallas, according to a Uber announcement. As an added incentive, orders over $30 will have no extra charges for members of Eats Pass and Uber Pass.

Uber said grocery and convenience deliveries have soared 197% since March, which marked the start of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in the U.S. Uber has partnered with more than 9,500 grocers in 35 countries worldwide since then.

Uber is partnering with Cornershop in Brazil, Chile, Columbia and Peru, and plans to expand its reach across major cities in the U.S.
