TSYS rolls out its mobile agenda
Payment technology provider TSYS announced the company's agenda for connected mobility to support commerce for digitally active consumers, what it called "those accustomed to navigating their daily lives with smart phones, tablets, game systems, electronic readers and computers."
TSYS said the initiative will enable consumers and businesses to connect and communicate in real time through a variety of devices that support mobility, business applications and commerce.
TSYS, which provides technology and payment support to more than half of the top 20 international banks, said the agenda will offer technology — including API interfaces and consumer-facing applications — to support any mobile network operator, manufacturer, wallet provider, applications provider or payments network.
"Two years ago the devices of choice were smart phones; now they are tablets. Regardless of the devices used tomorrow, our focus on people-centered payments paves the way for this agenda, with functionality to support mobility, applications and commerce across any device,” said Paul Bridgewater, group executive of global products at TSYS.
"Today's consumers prefer trusted alternative channels for increased mobility to facilitate online business and commerce — and they expect security, reliability and a seamless purchase experience that is simple and intuitive," Bridgewater said. "This agenda truly puts people at the center of payments."
The new initiative from TSYS, a company that operates quietly in the background of the payment ecosystem, addresses consumers' demands for products and applications that allow them to conduct commerce when, where and how they choose in their businesses and lives, the company said.
Included in the new initiative are three "themes," TSYS said: payments, which contains both NFC and cloud-based products; communications, such as consumer-directed alerts; and commerce, covering wallets, offers and financial management tools.
The company said it will use its in-house expertise, existing relationships and certified partners to support these solutions. A number of products and solutions are already available in support of this agenda, with more hitting the marketing in the next 12–24 months, TSYS said.
