Travelex international currency exchange hit by ransomware attack
Travelex, the London-based currency exchange and travel card provider, has been hit with a ransomware attack on New Year’s Eve, which has compromised certain data and the firm shut down its systems as a precaution.
A spokesperson for London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed via email that its Cyber Crime team has been contacted about the incident and is investigating.
Travelex said that no personal or customer data has been compromised and that branch locations are operating foreign exchange services manually.
