TIO launches Android version of PG&E app

Bill payment processor TIO Networks Corp. today announced it has launched a new Android version of its popular Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) Mobile Bill Payment app. The new app lets PG&E customers in Northern and Central California pay their utility bills through their Android smartphones.

According to the company's announcement, the Apple version of the app has seen more than 50,000 user accounts created and processed more than $15 million in consumer transactions.

"PG&E customers have made the PG&E Mobile Bill Pay app a true winner," said TIO Chairman and CEO Hamed Shahbazi in a statement.

Shahbazi said the iPhone version of the app is initiated more than 100,000 times per month and consistently ranks as one of the top apps in the Apple App store. He added that launching an Android version of the app demonstrates TIO's commitment to support leading smartphone operating systems.

"The company's mobile platform is in the midst of an aggressive expansion to support additional handsets and billers in the coming months," Shahbazi said.
