The mobile banking dilemma: Android platform leads Apple iOS for better — and worse
Statista, a provider of quantitative research tools and statistics, has published its rankings of computer operating system vulnerabilities.
The No. 1 most vulnerable OS doesn't even rate a drum roll, since the world already knows it's Android.
The platform comes with 523 known weak points, more than three times more than Apple iOS at 161, according to data from CVE, a web-based catalog of sorts of software vulnerabilities.
Conversely, Statista numbers show the Google-developed open source OS dominates the smartphone market by a huge margin. Mobile devices running Android outnumber those running iOS devices by a ratio of 6:1.
Together, the two platforms own 99 percent of the smartphone market, Statista said.
