Texas makes paying one's debt to society mobile-friendly

The state of Texas is making paying one's debt to society a little less onerous. The official website of the state, Texas.gov, in partnership with the City of Houston, has unveiled a new "mobile friendly" version of Houston's online ticket payment service. According to an announcement of the new site, the changes were in response to the "pervasive use of mobile devices in today's society."

Once accessed through an iPhone or Android device, the online service guides traffic scofflaws through a simple, three-step process to pay their tickets. Once online via a mobile device such as an iPhone or Android, violators can search through a database to find their tickets, select the offenses they want to address, and securely pay their fines.

The site also can handle driver license renewal, vehicle registration renewal, driver record orders and more. The state has also redesigned two other popular services for improved mobile usage, nursing license renewals and Fund for Veterans Assistance online donations. The state said it will be rolling out more mobile-friendly sites soon.

The redesigns for the Texas site were accomplished by NIC, a provider of official government websites, online services and secure payment processing solutions.
