Texas bank renews relationship with Western Union, adds mobile transfer

Woodforest National Bank customers can already access Western Union's money transfer and bill-payment services via the bank's branches and online banking website.

Western Union has announced the renewal of its contract with Texas-based Woodforest National Bank to provide money transfer services for the banks customers across 17 states. 

As part of the agreement, Woodforest plans to add Western Union's mobile money transfer service to its mobile banking app. The companies expect to launch the feature this year, according to a press release. Woodforest customers can already access Western Union's money transfer and bill-payment services via the bank's branches and online banking website. 

"The expanded financial services we have been able to offer through Western Union have been a longstanding value-added convenience to our customers. We look forward to our continued relationship with Western Union," said Julie V. Mayrant, Woodforest president of retail banking.
