Stratix, Ingenico partner on mPOS system

Stratix, an outsourcing managed mobile services provider, has formed a partnership with the payment solution provider Ingenico. The new combined offering provides merchants a fully managed mobile point of sale system and a support solution option to manage with a "per device" monthly payment plan, Stratix said in a news release.

With mobile technologies and mobile devices giving merchants creative new ways to market themselves, sell inventory and service customers, the company added, retailers are choosing to upgrade existing POS infrastructure with future-proof mPOS solutions.

A successfully implemented mobile POS solution can become a differentiator and a business driver for the retailer, Stratix said, but mobility represents a new level of complexity that requires strategic mobile solution planning, procurement, management and support.

Stratix cited several benefits of its MMS:

  • Improved internal IT staff productivity with dependable outsourced mobile service and support plans, allowing merchants to focus IT resources on their customers, not devices
  • Embedded technology refresh, which delivers regular access to new and improved mobile POS devices in the marketplace
  • Predictable, consistent monthly mobility expenses, eliminating CAPEX spikes and creating an impressive internal rate of return
  • Single source for mobile help desk and mobile POS repair and logistics, with immediate device replacement and real-time internal reporting.

"Mobile POS technology has revolutionized almost every aspect of transactional business including the way customers interact with brands, products and services," said Rod Hometh, vice president of market development for Ingenico, North America. "Our partnership with Stratix significantly expands our joint mobile solutions and offerings. Collectively, we are ready to deliver a unique value proposition that offers secure mobile POS devices coupled with a critical and essential management component."

Gina Daniel-Lee, vice president, strategic alliances at Stratix, said the companies see substantial opportunities beyond the retail environment. "The need for acquiring, provisioning and maintaining mobile-payment solutions is expanding into new fields with new applications," she said.
