Starmount upgrades mobile POS to improve retailers' customer service

Austin, Texas-based Starmount, a provider of software for the retail space, announced today it has released Starmount Engage 2.0, an update to its Starmount Engage mobile-selling assistant. The new version improves and adds to the feature set of the mobile POS, the company said.

"With more and more customers using their mobile devices for price comparison and research, store associates often know less about the products they’re selling than the customer they’re selling to does," said Starmount founder and CEO Joe Halloum in a statement.

Halloum said the new version of the Starmount Engage gives store associates the power and flexibility to meet the shopper in the middle with technology that’s not stuck behind the cash register.

Features of the Starmount mobile POS include the ability to search and browse items, check cross-channel availability, and offer side-by-side product comparisons.

"Until retailers seamlessly bridge the gap between the in-store and online experience, the shopping process will be unsatisfactory for most customers," said Jerry Rightmer, president and CTO of Starmount, in the announcement.

Rightmer added, "Retailers must recognize shoppers across channels and provide the best capabilities from any channel to allow consumers to easily navigate a retailer’s brand — ensuring shoppers will buy more and buy more often."
