Samsung reportedly talking with LoopPay about mobile payments
Smartphone manufacturer's handsets could feature startup's wireless payment technology.
Samsung might have its own answer for Apple Pay in 2015 as it reportedly is in discussions with LoopPay to add the startup’s wireless payment technology inside handsets, according to a report from Re/code.
Re/code reported that it was not clear whether an agreement between Samsung and LoopPay was reached, and said that any kind of deal could still fall apart. One source told the publication that a prototype of LoopPay’s technology running on a Samsung smartphone has been created.
Will Graylin, the CEO of LoopPay, founded the company in late 2012. Visa in July made an investment in the company just weeks after Synchrony Financial announced a strategic investment in LoopPay.
