Salvation Army unveils donation option via Apple, Google Pay
The Salvation Army has launched Kettle Pay, which allows the nonprofit to accept donations using Apple Pay and Google Pay for the holiday season.
The Salvation Army has added smart chips and QR codes on selected red kettle signs across the country, allowing donors to scan their phones to make a customizable online donation, according to a press release.
"We're humbled by the generosity of those who give to our red kettles, and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to support their local community," said Lt. Col. Ward Matthews, a spokesman for the Salvation Army, in the release. "We know not all shoppers can carry dollars or coins to drop in, so we've made it convenient for them to join our fight for good and provide help for more than 23 million people we are honored to serve each year."
