RushCard ushers in mobile app after glitch
RushCard has announced the launch of a new mobile app with security features nearly a year after a computer glitch prevented users from accessing their prepaid card accounts.
The free app is available on both the Android and iOS Apple platforms. The app will feature Pause Protection, making RushCard the first major prepaid card to enable customers to temporarily prevent purchases on their account at any time, according to a press release about the announcement.
The app will also feature One Touch Access, which enables customers to access their account on their mobile devices with their fingerprint. Also included is a pharmacy e-card, giving customers access discounts on prescription medications at Walmart. These features are part of RushCard's new "Make Moves" campaign, which shows consumers how they can use RushCard products to access financial opportunity.
"We are dedicated to providing safe, simple and affordable products to our customers to help them achieve their personal and financial goals," said Ron Hynes, CEO of RushCard. "We are proud to offer these new and unique, innovative features on our mobile app to help our customers access the mainstream economy. As a pioneer in the prepaid space, we will continue to provide the most convenient and safe products in the marketplace."
RushCard earlier this year agreed to pay $19 million in a lawsuit to consumers who could not access their funds during a system glitch last fall. The company, which was founded by hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, blamed the problem on a processor switch.
