ROAM updates mPOS application

The new version of its application features a completely redesigned user interface and claims it is the first and only native tablet application for both iOS and Android that supports all mobile payment transaction types and all acceptance methods.

ROAM, a part of Ingenico Mobile Solutions, today launched the latest version of its mobile point-of-sale application, ROAMpay X5.

ROAM said in a press release this new version of its application features a completely redesigned user interface and claims it is the first and only native tablet application for both iOS and Android that supports all mobile payment transaction types and all acceptance methods: magstripe, NFC, EMV chip and PIN, and EMV chip and sign. This application will be compatible with any Ingenico mPOS devices, including the iCMP.

ROAM developed and designed ROAMpay X5 from the ground up to meet the needs of today's merchants, according to the annoucement. It provides a native tablet experience and familiar look and feel that is intended to reduce training time, increases merchant adoption and improves customer satisfaction. ROAMpay X5 can be fully white-labeled, providing merchant service providers such as ISOs, acquirers, banks and telcos with the fastest route to market.

ROAM is demonstrating ROAMpay X5 during two major events this week: the Money2020 conference taking place in Las Vegas (at the Aria, booth 215), and the Cartes conference, taking place in Paris, Nov 4-6, 2014 (at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre, stand 4 J 003).

New features and benefits of ROAMpay X5 include:

  • Native tablet app: takes advantage of the larger tablet screen and gives merchants easy access to all of the information they need.
  • UI redesign: improved screen flow speeds transaction times and enhances the purchasing experience.
  • Seamless connectivity to the newly redesigned portal, ROAMmerchant: provides merchants with a consistent look and feel and single access point to manage their business.
  • Real-time SMS receipts: accelerates checkout time and provides consumers without smartphones a quick and easy way to receive digital receipts.

"As the mPOS market matures, we are seeing a growing number of merchants moving to tablets for mPOS, but software designed for smartphones doesn't always port well to a tablet," said Scott Holt, vice president of marketing and solutions for Ingenico Mobile Solutions. "For this new version of our mPOS application, we addressed the growing audience of customers looking to use both iOS and Android tablets. The end result is a completely redesigned, tablet-optimized, and simplified user interface that our customers and partners tell us they can't wait to get their hands on. We're excited to show off ROAMpay X5 during Money2020 and Cartes."
