Ride sharing app Facedrive acquires Foodora Canada assets

Facedrive Inc., a Canadian peer-to-peer ride sharing network, has finalized the acquisition of Foodora Canada, the Canadian unit of Berlin-based restaurant delivery platform Foodora Inc., according to a press release.

Facedrive paid $500,000 for the assets of Foodora Canada, which had hundreds of thousands of customers and about 5,500 restaurant partners in the country. Foodora, which was a unit of Berlin-based Delivery Hero, filed for bankruptcy protection in Canada in May after workers at the Toronto area delivery platform won the right to unionize.

"By completing the transaction on time, and as envisioned, the Facedrive team has shown once again our commitment to deliver on our promises to customers, partners and shareholders," Sayan Navaratnam, chairman and CEO of Facedrive, said in the press release. "We are absolutely excited and honored to service Foodora's customers and work with Foodora's restaurant partners."
