Report: Technical issues slow rollout of Google Wallet
Not everyone seems to be happy with the way the Google Wallet is being rolled out. According to a post on Computerworld, over-the-air (OTA) updates to some Nexus S smartphones were happening slowly with some users not receiving their updates as promised by last Friday.
ComputerWorld quotes a Google help desk rep saying that the "rollout is kind of a slow rollout" and that no time had been given on when it would be completed.
There was no official response from Google to ComputerWorld's requests for updates.
Mobile payment analyst Bob Egan from The Sepharim Group said in the blog that the ComputerWorld rollout problems are a big deal.
"It shows Google's preparation for launch isn't production ready," Egan told ComputerWorld.
"If setting up Google Wallet is complex, unreliable or leaves consumers unexcited, where they find themselves asking, 'Why did I do this?' then Google Wallet will be stillborn," Egan wrote in the blog.
