Radiant Systems adding mobile payments capabilities to offerings

Radiant Systems Inc., an Atlanta-based technology provider focused on the hospitality and retail markets, announced it is actively working with several partners and merchants to integrate mobile payment offerings into its products.

The company said in its announcement it has several pilot programs with companies bringing mobile wallets to market this year. It also said it is adding mobile payment functionality to its core product lines, as well as integrating third party payment solutions.

"Radiant has heavily invested in mobile payment capabilities, including several we are introducing to the market this year," Radiant Systems COO Andy Heyman said in the announcement. "While many start-ups are bringing increased attention to the mobile space, Radiant can quickly enable our customers to accept and seamlessly integrate mobile payment into their operations by leveraging our open, secure point-of-sale technology."

"There are many new and competing mobile payment solutions entering the marketplace, and it is our intent to support those that we and our customers believe will become most relevant to their businesses," said Radiant EVP of Marketing Kim Eaton in the company's announcement.

In an email to Mobile Payments Today, a spokeswoman for Radiant said the company is taking a few approaches to mobile payments. She said Radiant is "developing and incorporating this capability into our own products, supporting mobile wallets and partnering with other companies in the mobile pay space."

The spokeswoman was not able disclose which companies are participating in pilot programs with Radiant. She did say "some of the initial users of Google Wallet are Radiant customers."

The Radiant spokeswoman said there's no firm timeline on when the new mobile payment products would be rolled out, as the rollout will be determined by the success of each program.

"(A)ctivity around our pilot programs will be taking place this summer and early in the fall," she said.
