Pilot raises $40B in Series B from Index Ventures, Stripe, launches Pilot Tax

Pilot, a San Francisco-based bookkeeping platform, has raised $40 million in Series B funding led by Index Ventures and Stripe. The company also has launched Pilot Tax, a service that allows the platform’s bookkeeping customers to get their taxes done by an expert preparer, according to a blog post.

The company raised $15 million in January in a Series A funding round led by Index Ventures after operating its platform in beta for a year. Investors in included Patrick and John Collison from Stripe, Drew Houston from Dropbox and a large group of investors from Google Cloud, including Diane Green and Frederic Kerrest.

Pilot, which launched in 2017, handles a wide range of corporate tax issues, including 1099 filings, Delaware franchise filings and general corporate filings, using a dedicated account manager based in the U.S. Pilot maintains a company’s accounting using QuickBooks Online.

Pilot officials said the company handles about $100 million in financial transactions per month.
