Payworks expands partnership with Stripe for EMV, mobile transactions

Point-of-sale company Payworks has announced an expansion of its POS payment integration with online payments company Stripe, according to a press release.

Stripe users in Finland, France and the U.S. can now accept card payments at the physical point of sale via chip-and-PIN card readers. Payworks recently launched its partnership with Strip in Ireland and the U.K.

With this expansion, developers using Stripe can now use the Payworks open API payment gateway technology to build and launch integrated point-of-sale products. They can do that by integrating the Payworks EMV SDK into their POS applications, regardless of the operating system they use, and enable their merchants to use card readers in their physical stores. This integration will enable merchants to instantly start accepting EMV chip and contactless cards, as well as mobile wallet payments like Apple Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay, according to the announcement.

"Since the beginning, our focus has been on providing Stripe users with the tools and the infrastructure they need to start and manage an internet business," said Stripe's Head of Business Development Cristina Cordova. "By extending our integration with Payworks, we can now offer further flexibility to our users in the US, France and Finland who wish to accept credit and debit cards both online and in person."

"Both Payworks and Stripe share the vision of making payments easier," said Christian Deger, co-founder and CEO of Payworks. "We were very successful in the U.K. in terms of combining the online payment technology of Stripe and the point-of-sale payment technology of Payworks. We are very excited to take these learnings and apply them to markets like the U.S., where merchants are in need of an easy and quick way to accept in-store EMV card payments."
