PayPal releases SDK for mPOS product service
The company wants to make it easier for merchants to accept in-store payments on mobile devices.
PayPal Thursday announced it launched a PayPal Here SDK that is intended to make it simpler for merchants to sell products in brick-and-mortar locations from an iOS or Android device, the company revealed in a blog post.
"The PayPal Here SDK, though complex in its capabilities, is simple to integrate with an easy to use API," wrote Brad Brodigan, vice president and general manager for North American retail at PayPal. "We built a system that allows partners and developers to use the same SDK to implement payment solutions across several different geographic locations."
PayPal introduced features in the SDK that include, but are not limited to, "the ability to interact with credit card readers so customers can easily swipe their card at the merchant's point of sale, streamline payments, manage CRM and inventory, create and maintain invoices, calculate totals, discounts and taxes, and the ability to provide a more personalized and engaging customer experience at checkout."
PayPal partnered with Ecwid and GoDaddy in announcing the SDK.
"Ecwid and GoDaddy integrated their native apps with our PayPal Here SDK to help their merchants provide a seamless buying experience for their in-store customers, and in turn, drive cross-channel sales," Brodigan wrote.
