PayPal expands Xoom money transfer service across 32 European markets
PayPal late Monday announced the launch of its international remittance service Xoom in 32 markets across Europe.
The expansion will allow Xoom customers to send money to friends and family, pay bills or top up phones in more than 130 markets worldwide.
"The way we move and manage our money has changed dramatically in the last few years," Dan Schulman, president and CEO of PayPal, said in a company release. "We have moved beyond the days when the only option for sending money abroad was to queue at a counter for hours."
Xoom customers can send up to $11,225 (10,000 euros) at a time. Xoom accounts can be set up through an iOS or Android app or on the web at Xoom.com. Current PayPal customers can access Xoom services through the PayPal account.
PayPal customers can also send funds using a bank account linked to their PayPal account on top of the debit and credit card options for Xoom customers.
