PayPal chases India's Paytm with copyright suit
PayPal is moving forward with a copyright infringement lawsuit against mobile wallet provider Paytm, claiming that the India-based company's color scheme and logo are too similar to its own.
PayPal said in the lawsuit, which the company filed last month with the India Patent Office, that Paytm's color scheme and logo could confuse potential customers.
"There is no reason for [Paytm] to adopt the identical colors and color scheme other than to take advantage of the reputation [PayPal] has built up into this combination in connection with its popular services," PayPal said in the lawsuit.
Paytm has become one of the more popular mobile wallet providers in India over the past year and recently received an investment from China's Alibaba.
