PaymentOne rolls out direct carrier billing API supporting HTML5

Direct carrier biller PaymentOne is looking to make payments on mobile devices easer while also supporting the new HTML5 standard.

The company said it is releasing a new API for an HTML5-compliant Web-based payment flow for digital content creators. The new API will let game and app developers monetize their digital wares and provide them a secure payment method that works across all devices and operating systems.

"HTML5 makes every device a potential commerce opportunity for developers of games and apps," said PaymentOne EVP Brad Singer in the announcement. HTML5's rise means developers can easily expand their reach across platforms, Singer said. With PayOne's new HTML5 API developers can build once and monetize everywhere via the open Web, he said.

Running the new PayOne HTML5 API game developers no longer have to choose which platform or device to develop their game for, the company said.

Additionally, through PaymentOne, developers can offer in-app mobile Web payments allowing gamers the ability to apply their in-app purchases directly to their monthly mobile phone bill. That's especially important to game developers and social media sites where users may not have access to credit or debit accounts.

PaymentOne said it provides content providers the ability to sell content to more than 4 billion consumers through carriers in 80 countries.

According to the announcement, PaymentOne's support for HTML5 is ready today with additional enhancements to further simplify consumer experiences rolling out soon.
