PayAnywhere signs deal with Discover for PayPal payment card acceptance

U.S. mPOS payments technology vendor PayAnywhere has partnered with Discover Financial Services to provide PayAnywhere-affiliated merchants with the ability to accept PayPal at the point of sale.

PayPal has more than 55 million active customers in the U.S., an increasing number of whom are using the PayPal payment card, PayAnywhere said.Pay Anywhere Android

PayAnywhere merchants can begin accepting PayPal at the point of sale for card-present transactions around Dec. 20.

PayAnywhere offers a free card reader and mobile app that transforms smartphones and tablets into card processing terminals. It is owned by North American Bancard, a Troy, Mich.-based processor that processes more than $13 billion in transactions for more than 250,000 merchants each year. PayAnywhere charges merchants a 2.69 percent transaction processing fee for accepting card payments using its card reader.

"By offering PayPal acceptance, we're helping merchants grow their revenues through a whole new form of currency exchange right on their POS devices," Marc Gardner, founder, president and CEO of North American Bancard, said in a news release.
