ParkMobile USA connects with Citi to make paying for parking mobile

Paying for being immobile is becoming increasingly mobile. ParkMobile USA Inc., a provider of "cashless parking solutions," announced yesterday it has selected Citi to offer "a new, more comprehensive mobile payment service" to its customers.

According to ParkMobile USA, its new solution gives parkers the ability pay for their parking spots in ParkMobile USA lots through their mobile devices. The company said it has selected Citi to provide global payment management services using Citi's prepaid account capabilities.

"By leveraging Citi, we can continue to focus on expanding our core business and advance cashless parking payments technology," said Albert Bogaard, CEO of ParkMobile USA, in the company's announcement.

Users of ParkMobile USA's mobile payment service register for free and create a prepaid account provided by Citi through the ParkMobile USA website. The prepaid accounts can be loaded via a credit card, debit card or bank account. Once registered, customers can access their accounts via mobile app, the Internet, or even a toll free phone number to pay for their parking spots

ParkMobile USA said city transit and transportation authorities in Washington DC, metro Boston and the New York City area have already made its Pay by Phone services available at various locations.
