Parkmobile expands services in the UK

Atlanta-based Parkmobile is expanding its services in the U.K, extending a payment powered cashless parking system in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead in southeast England. Commuters and residents will be able to pay for parking using only their mobile handsets.

Parkmobile said it has been providing services in the region since 2010, but it will now be available in more carparks in the area.

"The extension of Parkmobile provides residents with even greater choice of how they can pay at car parks across the Royal Borough," said councillor Carwyn Cox, cabinet member for environmental services. "Residents want simple and convenient ways to pay for their parking so that is what we are providing."

According to an announcement, Parkmobile has already been used more than 70,000 times as a part of local pilot programs and is also used by other local authorities in and around Greater London.

Parkmobile offers mobile payments for on- and off-street parking, digital parking permits and real-time enforcement, the company said. Four hundred cities worldwide use the company's solutions to manage parking and payment and Parkmobile boasts millions of registered users.

Parkmobile recently raised $6.3 million from BCD Holdings, Parkmobile Group, Fontinalis Partners and Bluefield Investments.
