Oberthur intros multipayment dual-interface card meeting MasterCard, Visa specs

Oberthur Technologies, a provider of embedded security software products and services, has released a new multipayment dual-interface card.

Cosmo Fly v5.8 is the first MasterCard M/Chip Advance v1.2-certified product to meet multi-application requirements. It also conforms to the VISA 2.8.1g certification which fulfills the network's new 12-year EMV Card Lifecycle Policy, according to a press release.

Anticipating the convergence of payment and transit markets, OT has enhanced nonpayment functions of the card with the inclusion of Mifare and Cipurse, enabling its potential use in automated fare collection transit systems globally. The new applets also allow OT customers to address open payment in transit.

The applets make the product fully compliant for U.S. dual debit and prepaid migration, the release said.

Additionally, new card incorporates features found in all Cosmo Products: authentication mechanism; access control; and electronic identity features AuthentIC or ID-One.

“Built on the contactless or ‘tap-and-go’ technology, EMV Dual interface technology aims at speeding up shoppers’ checkout times,” said Chiro Aikat, senior vice president of EMV product delivery at MasterCard. "We are glad to see MasterCard partners like OT setting the tone by quickly delivering our customers with U.S. Debit approved products based on MasterCard latest M/Chip Advance specifications.
