New in-app payment service offered by Ericsson
Ericsson, a provider of technology services to the telecommunications industry, has announced the debut of its In Application Payment service based on the company's Internet Payment Exchange (IPX) service platform.
The IPX service platform takes care of a host of required back-end services and relationships with wireless carriers. According to Ericsson's press release, its new in-app payment service is integrated to more than 120 carriers.
In-app payment methods like the one announced by Ericsson allow mobile content providers to collect revenue from users more easily, usually with a single click. Most in-app payments are billed directly to a user's monthly phone bill.
According to the company's announcement, Ericsson's new service is designed to make it easier for application developers or content providers to include in-app payments. Ericsson also said the new service automatically handles many of the varied requirements of mobile networks worldwide, making it easier for them to make their applications available in different countries.
