Neomobile brings one-click carrier billing to Opera mobile browser

Direct carrier billier Neomobile is linking with Opera Software to make it easier for users of the Opera Mini mobile browser to use Neomobile billing services. Opera Commerce, a subsidiary of Opera Software, will integrate Neomobile's mobile payment system into its Opera Payment Exchange, allowing users to buy digital content by placing the purchase on their monthly mobile phone bill.

"Opera strives to work with partners like Neomobile to strengthen the mobile payment ecosystem for Opera Mini users through OPX," said Opera Commerce CEO Sameer Merchant in a statement. "One by one, we want to partner with premium mobile payment service providers like Neomobile to give the convenience of mobile payments to our Opera Mini users."

Opera Mini is the mobile version of the Opera Software web browsing platform, which has more than 200 million users worldwide.

Headquartered in Rome, Neomobile offers a number of mobile commerce and mobile payment solutions to consumers through its Onebip solution in more than 70 markets worldwide.

For now, the partnership will facilitate purchases of mobile entertainment delivered through the Opera Mini browser in the 11 markets where Neomobile provides those services, mainly in Europe, and also in Latin America and India. According to Neomobile CEO Gianluca D'Agostino, this is only the first step in the partnership.

"We are very proud to be an Opera partner and to give the chance to all Opera Mini users worldwide to enjoy our mobile entertainment content and services through the simplicity of our one-click payment flow," D'Agostino said. "The next step for us will be the integration of our Onebip mobile payment service to let merchants and other media companies make the most of all the ways to monetize their services through the Opera Mini browser."
