NCR Corp. and Elavon, the merchant acquirer owned by U.S. Bancorp, have announced that they are pooling their collective talents to offer a POS solution for small businesses. The product will combine NCR's tablet- and mobile-based NCR Silver product with Elavon's payment processing and distribution channels.

"We continue to expand our distribution network to make sure NCR Silver is in front of small business owners and those thinking of starting a small business when they make their crucial POS system decisions," said Christian Nahas, vice president of the NCR small business team. "NCR Silver aims to make every day easier for small businesses and their customers."

Nahas said that working with Elavon to provide payment processing — and offering NCR Silver through Elavon channels — will make it easier for the small business community to use mobile POS technology.

"The convergence of tablets, mobile commerce and cloud-based computing has resulted in the delivery of new, affordable point-of-sale solutions for small businesses," said Marianne Johnson, executive vice president for global product and innovation at Elavon, adding that small businesses can now take advantage of both the latest in payment technology as well as a single, comprehensive solution for managing day-to-day business transactions.
