Mobile POS provider iZettle releases Pro device in more countries

Merchants in Denmark, The Netherlands, Spain, Finland, Norway and France can now buy the chip-and-PIN reader.

Mobile point-of-sale provider iZettle today released its Pro contactless reader across six more countries in Europe. The device supports both chip-and-PIN and contactless payments, according to a press release.

Merchants in Denmark, The Netherlands, Spain, Finland, Norway and France can now buy the Pro contactless reader. The device also is available in Germany and the U.K.

"Contactless payments offer unparalleled ease-of-use for consumers and vastly increased transaction speed for merchants," Jacob de Geer, iZettle CEO and co-founder, said in a statement. "We all imagine a world where wallets are left at home, where a simple swipe of a phone or a watch is all it takes. We're now getting there."

Stockholm-based iZettle also announced that it will soon release iZettle Advance, a new way for small businesses to obtain access to extra capital by receiving an advance on future card sales. The program is similar to Square Capital.

"Small companies have persistently been underserved by the traditional finance industry," Geer said. "We want small companies to thrive, and with iZettle Advance we're applying the exact same logic as when we started iZettle five years ago and completely overhauled card payments acceptance for small businesses."
