Michigan bank adds mPOS card reader for business clients

Holland, Mich.-based Macatawa Bank will offer a mobile payments solution that lets business customers accept card payments through smartphones or tablets. The SpotPay card reader works with Android or iOS devices.

"The ability to pay anyone, anytime, anywhere is changing commerce as we know it," said Mike Shollack, the bank's information technology and eCommerce director, in a news release. "SpotPay is an innovative tool that helps deliver anytime, anywhere commerce while deepening our relationships with our business customers."

Macatawa said it will work with financial-services technology provider Fiserv on the rollout.

The SpotPay solution offers a comprehensive set of features and functionality combined with a rugged design and a long swipe path, the bank said, and incorporates strong fraud prevention tools that are designed to decline counterfeit cards, the bank said.
