Messaging service Telegram adds chatbot payments

Telegram, a cloud-based mobile and desktop messaging app that touts its security, recently introduced payments for chatbots to its platform.

The program, called Bot Payments, enables chatbot developers to accept payments through the addition of a pay button.

"When you tap Pay, you'll be asked to fill in your credit card and shipping information and confirm the payment," according to a Telegram blog post about the new feature.

Users that have two-verification for their accounts can save the card information for future purchases to make a purchase more easy. Developers also have the option to add Apple Pay to complete purchases.

Telegram said that Stripe is processing most of its chatbot transactions, but that developers can choose their own payment processor should they want to go that route.
