Zain, a mobile and data services operator, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with MasterCard to boost digital payment services in Jordan through the Zain Cash mobile wallet service.

Aimed at extending the benefits of the Zain Cash service to Zain's growing subscriber base, the announcement was made on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa held recently in Jordan.

Under the license granted by the Central Bank of Jordan, Zain has been approved to issue MasterCard prepaid cards linked to the Zain Cash mobile wallet. Subscribers can obtain and use the card locally and globally wherever MasterCard is accepted. The card also offers the possibility of shopping online and withdrawing cash from ATMs.
