Mable raises $3.1M for wholesale grocery platform

Mable, a Boston-based mobile and online platform, has raised $3.1 million in seed funding to develop a wholesale e-commerce platform for small grocers, convenience stores and health food stores led by Venrock, Accomplice and Founder Collective.

Several angel investors participated in the round, including Laurent Amouyal, Shopkeep Co-Founder David Olk and James McCann.

Mable Co-Founder and CEO Arik Keller, a former PayPal executive and chief product officer of Confirm.io, started Mable after he left working at technology firms and bought a grocery store and found existing methods for procuring inventory a challenge.

"When I bought my store, I found modern tech solutions for nearly everything, except reordering inventory," he said in a press release. "The status quo for grocers is to order everything via phone, text or email, which makes managing purchases from multiple distributors and brands incredibly labor intensive."

His co-founder, CTO Eric Carlstrom, is the co-founder and CTO of SidelineSwap and EverTrue.

The platform is focused on the northeastern U.S., but is available across the country. The business is mainly focused on packaged food, but plans to expand to produce and beverages.
