KryptoKit releases Bitcoin merchant directory

Bitcoin online wallet provider KryptoKit is providing a shopping directory of e-commerce websites that accept Bitcoin for payment. Toronto-based KryptoKit specializes in encryption and digital currencies.

KrypoKit announced its Bitcoin shopping directory at the first North American Bitcoin Conference in Miami on Jan. 24. The directory is accessed from a tab within KryptoKit's Bitcoin wallet for Google Chrome, and is integrated with Bitcoin payment processor BitPay for Bitcoin acceptance.

Partnering with BitPay ensures that the directory works in every country in the world, with payouts in native currencies and no charge-backs, KryptoKit said in a statement.

Shoppers can visit any online merchant that accepts Bitcoins, KryptoKit said. The directory automatically collects the Bitcoin addresses for each item from the site and inserts them into the KryptoKit wallet, making them into a list of payment options. Users select their items and hit send without having to copy and paste addresses, as they would normally do for Bitcoin purchases.

"As Bitcoin becomes more universally known and accepted as currency, we saw a clear need to have a single, clean and easy-to-use resource for finding businesses that welcome cryptocurrency," KryptoKit founders Anthony Di Iorio and Steve Dakh said in a statement. "KryptoKit will roll out more BitPay merchant sites in the upcoming weeks."

KryptoKit's wallet currently has a five-star rating in the Chrome Web Store and can be downloaded for free. The company has future plans to integrate with other major Bitcoin and digital currency processors in the coming months.
