Kansas adds mobile payment solution for property taxes
In 2000, the state of Kansas launched a website that let people avoid a trip to their county treasurer's office and pay property taxes through a desktop version of the Kansas Property Tax Payments service. Now that service, which is provided by NIC Inc., has been upgraded to include mobile devices.
Seventy-five counties are participating in the program so far. Funds must be drawn on a U.S. bank account, and accounts must not be in dispute or have a prior year tax delinquency.
"The Kansas County Treasurers Association is proud to offer this service to the citizens of Kansas," the group's president, Gayla Shields, said in a news release. "We recognize that many people appreciate having online payment services. People who have used the Kansas Property Tax Payment service have expressed appreciation for the benefits offered by this application."
