JMango to integrate Jumio's card scanning technology

It's a busy time for "scan a credit card with a smartphone camera" technology companies.

Jumio announced a new partnership with mobile application and development platform JMango. JMango will offer Jumio's scanning technology as a part of its mobile development platform, the company said, allowing developers to intergrate the solution into their apps.

Like card.io, the company PayPal just acquired, Jumio has a product that lets users scan credit card data using a smartphone's embedded camera. It's a smart and simple way to load the data into an app or process a transaction. Jumio also offers an ID verification product that scans and verifies other forms of ID as well.

"It's a really elegant solution and one that fills a unique gap in the marketplace," said Ilan Oosting, CEO of JMango. "It simplifies a lot of the processes involved in making payments using your card and substantially reduces the friction points commonly associated with paying online or through your mobile device."

"This is a disruptive technology that will increase security, reduce processing time and enhance the user experience for our partners and end users," Oosting said.

With the new partnership, JMango has also agreed to become a primary reseller of Jumio's verification technology.

"JMango's technology will be key in offering Jumio to a wider, global audience," said Daniel Mattes, Jumio founder and CEO.

Mattes said the speed, depth and scalability of JMango's platform is what initially attracted his company.

"(W)e expect this partnership to usher in a new era for mobile payments as we draw from each other's technological innovations," Mattes said.
