Square Inc. CEO Jack Dorsey is contemplating taking his company public, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The company, known for its credit card reader that plugs into mobile devices, has discussed a 2014 IPO with Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley, the Journal said, citing a source familiar with the matter.

But that source added that Square hasn't hired a bank and the deal's timing could change.

A Square IPO would come on the heels of today's Twitter IPO. Dorsey co-founded Twitter and remains its chairman.
