Isis names its merchant partners
And here come the merchants.
Isis, the mobile payment joint venture between AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless, has already announced agreements and partnerships with card brands, POS manufacturers, card issuers and various other members of the payment food chain. Today it announced some of the merchant partners it will be working with as it looks to launch services in Austin, Texas, and Salt Lake City later this year.
National merchant partners named by Isis include Aéropostale, The Coca-Cola Company, Champs, Dillard's, Foot Locker, Jamba Juice and Macy's.
"Today's announcement signals the mobile commerce experience has arrived," said Isis's chief sales officer Jim Stapleton. "A strong merchant base in Austin and Salt Lake City will make the Isis Mobile Wallet real for consumers as they choose to use their mobile wallet at many of their favorite merchant locations to pay and redeem offers."
The company said its national and local merchant partners join a long list of major merchants who already accept contactless payments — basically any company that already has equipment at the point of sale that can handle contactless cards. (The same merchants, it should be noted, can accept Google Wallet as well.)
Along with the national brands, Isis released a long list of local and regional merchants in the Austin and Salt Lake City areas where consumers can use their NFC-enabled phones to make purchases at the point of sale.
