Isis gets a start date

We have a date: October 22. That's the date pilot programs for Isis will go live in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Austin, Texas, according to a new document received by tech site Android Central from an anonymous source.

The document is an internal Isis memo sent to stores. It confirms that the launch will take place later this month and provides basic information about the program.

As detailed in a prior story on Mobile Payments Today, the Isis Mobile Wallet will be loaded onto a secure chip on NFC-enabled Android phones. The chip will store payment credentials and card data loaded by customers onto the app.

The chips will be distributed in the pilot cities at more than 200 stores of the three wireless carriers are partnering on Isis — Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile USA and AT&T Mobility. Store personnel will load the chips into the customers' phones and help them get set up with the Isis app.

The document also describes the offers available to customers who install an Isis Mobile Wallet on their phones. New customers will receive $10 for activating an account. Customers who upgrade the Isis card stored in the mobile wallet to a reloadable version will receive $15.
