InfoBip and neXva unite on new mobile app, payment business model
Mobile network operators around the world are watching developers make money by offering apps to subscribers. App developers are looking for ways to reach more potential customers. Croatian mobile messaging and payment company Infobip and U.S.-based app store provider neXva are hoping that they can help MNOs and developers by creating marketplaces they both can leverage.
The two companies announced they will be partnering to provide a fully managed and hosted service including an application store and content provided by neXva. The result is a business model that lets mobile network operators create an end-to-end app store of their own that includes the store, billing and payments, and content.
"Through our partnership with neXva, operators now can extend their offering beyond a robust mobile payment platform to include a branded mobile app store with top quality content," said Massimo Cristini, Infobip managing director North America. "The result is a benefit to the carrier's customers and a way for the carrier to increase their revenue."
On behalf of neXva, company CEO Brian J. Friedman said there is a great opportunity in emerging markets where users are content hungry and operators need solutions to monetize and offer this content.
"This partnership between neXva, an innovative app store platform provider, and Infobip, a market leader in carrier grade mobile payment solution, was an obvious choice when considering the needs of these markets," Friedman said.
Friedman called the deal a win-win for mobile operators finding new revenue streams and content providers extending their market to the world.
