Indian mobile money platform My Mobile Payments Ltd seeking up to $100M in funding

Showing the huge potential for India's mobile payment market, India's Business Standard is reporting My Mobile Payments Ltd., a Mumbai-based mobile money platform, is in the process of raising $75 million-$100 million in Series B funding. This follows an investment last year from Calpian Inc. out of Dallas for around $30 million.

MMPL provides mobile money services used mainly for topping up prepaid mobile airtime. However, the company said it plans on offering additional services including mobile point of sale to Indian merchants.

The new investment will be used to fund the new products as well as to grow its customer base, the article said.
