Indian electric utility customers can pay with mobile wallet
Beginning Aug. 7, electric consumers in the Indian city of Mumbai will be able to pay their bills through mobile wallets, according to Indian Express. The utility known as BEST, or Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport, has partnered with third-party aggregator Money Mobile Payment Limited to provide the service.
BEST electricity users can currently pay online, through an electronic clearing system and by cash or check at billing centers. There are few MMPL dealers in Mumbai, but BEST expects franchises to increase as more people use mobile wallets.
