Hungarian national mobile payment system will launch this fall
Hungary is planning to launch a mobile payment system nationwide, according to the Budapest Business Times. The National Mobile Payment System will allow Hungarians to pay for transit tickets through mobile devices.
The Nemzeti Mobilfizetési, a state-owned company established to oversee the system, will offer mobile payment services through resellers, including payments for parking fees and motorway stickers, the post said.
The new system will roll out this fall; railway and public transportation ticket sales will be added sometime between 2014 and 2017.
The state-owned company was created by government decree in December 2011, with regulations, including fees, established a year later.
