Bloomberg, citing two sources familiar with plans, said Hewlett-Packard Co. is looking to enter the near field communication (NFC) market by introducing phones and tablets incorporating the technology.

The sources said the devices could be available as early as this year.

HP will be releasing its new tablet computer, the HP TouchPad, at the beginning of July.

A spokesperson for HP declined to comment on the rumor.
