Google Pay, PFS launch mobile payment integration in UK

Google Pay and Prepaid Financial Services have announced in a joint press release that PFS card users can now add their cards to the mobile wallet for payment in the U.K.

The integration means that PFS customers can now use the platform with merchants, for online purchases and to buy Google products.

"PFS has worked with Google to provide a convenient user experience in a growing digital world," PFS Chief Technical Officer Conor Doyle said in the release. "We like to focus on speed, convenience and security. Google Pay makes it easy for users to pay and check out."

The announcement comes less than a month after PFS announced an agreement to integrate with Samsung Pay.

PFS is a major issuer of e-wallets, prepaid cards and virtual cards in the U.K. and one of the largest e-money issuers in Europe, where it operates in 25 countries, the release said. Earlier this week, the company was awarded an e-money license by the Central Bank of Ireland in preparation for the outcome of Brexit.

Also this week, the EU allowed an extension of the Brexit deadline to Oct.31.
